What happens when you mix zebra-striped shoes, a big red church, a cardboard groomsmen, fortune tellers and a bird show? Answer: Megan and Dax’s spectacular Fresno Zoo Wedding. Their wedding day was full of creative touches which included retro invitations and our favorite wedding programs to date. The programs were folding “fortune tellers” a.k.a. cootie catchers, an origami paper game. Other wedding details, including hand-made paper flowers, a retro photo booth and bicycle-built-for-two cake topper, all gave the wedding a fun and unique vibe.
Since Megan and Dax met in Fresno’s Tower District, we started portraits at The Tower Theatre for their “first look,” and then continued to Revue (the cafe where they first met) for more photos. Their wedding ceremony was held at the nearby “Big Red Church” where they had a beautiful ceremony. After the ceremony, the couple arrived at The Fresno Zoo, where they were introduced into the Winged-Wonders Bird Show. Family and friends enjoyed their own private show starring a variety of feathered friends. Dinner and much-dancing followed!
So where did the cardboard groomsmen come in? Sadly, Megan’s brother was uanble to attend the wedding. In true “making lemonade out of lemons” fashion, Megan and Dax had a life-size photo cutout made so that her brother could be part of the festivities. His stand-in braved through the formal photos, stood watch at the photo booth, and even made some crazy moves on the dance floor.
Congratulations to Megan and Dax! We know you marriage will be wondrous and full of fun!
